the art of tipping

first let me start off by saying i am a hypocrite on this topic. i used to not tip at all and still do not fully understand the point but do it because it is socially unacceptable to not do so. so with that being said let me say this, i HATE people that do not tip. i can somewhat understand being a lousy tipper but not tipping at all really pisses me off.

i am a delivery driver. i take food to you when you are either too lazy or too drunk to drive yourself to the store. i am not directly waiting your table and catering to your every need so i understand i should not get as much of a tip as your average waiter, but ultimately i am doing you a service by driving long distances at my expense to bring you food, therefore you should be courteous enough to give me a few bucks.

here is an example of what i am talking about, and it actually happens a lot more often then my brain can comprehend. if you order food and your bill comes to say $14.80, if i get to the door and you hand me a $10, 4 $1's, and 80 cents... i want to kill you at that point. if you dont have the decency to at least round up to the nearest dollar then you do not deserve to eat that meal. i would much rather have a shitty 20 cent tip than to carry around 80 cents in my pocket. that to me is a slap in the face and it happens a lot in my area because the restaurant i work at is located right on the edge of UNCG campus and the majority of my deliveries are to dorms and as we all know, college kids are poor. well news flash, i'm poor too or else i wouldnt be a fucking delivery driver! cough up the extra change and quit being a douchebag!
